When people think of Rioja, many do not think of the white wines of this eminent Spanish region. This one is made from 100% Viura, which is also known as Macabeo from Catalunya, one of the trio that make up the base of that region’s sparkling wine, Cava. After 8 months of resting on lees, there is a fleshy robustness to this wine as well as a slinkiness to the finish.

The honeyed floral overtones have plenty of fruity back up in the shape of peach and citrus. That time on lees filled and rounded out the mouth and lengthened the spicy finish. An easy choice of wine to enjoy with a fish dish or maybe some tasty tapas.

Quickie review «A robust white wine that has a honeyed, fruity perfume and a slinky curvaceous finish. An easy choice for tapas or seafood.»
