sDagueneauTraditionIf you are splashing out on Sauvignon Blanc and not thinking of Pouilly Fume, you are missing out. It has the personality to make it a very fun dinner companion for starters and there is nothing hard or brash about it. Additionally, it has that extra facet of light flinty smokiness that Pouilly Fume is known for.

Pretty floral, ripe grapefruit and nectarine fruit are softened by creamy spices from resting ‘sur lie’ for a few months. That time on lees gives a fullness to the body as well as a roundness to the acid. On the palate, the vibrant fruit takes on a herbaceous nuance but it is the silk and floral fruit that leaves a lasting impression.

Doesn’t need food, but it is a versatile wine and seafood or fish will be a good match.

Date:  7th March 2015   Price: $35+    Value: $$   Drink: Now – 3 years
