Here are your suggestions for Friday, 11th April 2014 ….
Yalumba Christobels Classic Dry White 2013 ($15) – Classic semillon sauvignon blanc blend is a very pretty wine that can be found hovering around $10 or $11. It is light, spicily floral, ripe with pineapple and exotic tropical fruit. Even though it is off-dry, it is well balanced with softness at heart and a firm finish. Just right for BYO to the local Thai and sharing with friends.
A bit fancy!
Yellowglen Perle 2009 ($25) – Soft ripe apple and citrus with yeasty bread and nuts provide plenty of interest while delivering creamy texture. Well-made and well priced. A refreshing aperitif style of crisp bubbles.
Treat of the week ….
d’Arenberg 2011 The Amaranthine Single Vineyard Shiraz ($99) – Amaranthine means everlasting and this vineyard produces rich, more angular wines with a fine grain to the tannins and a soothing brooding quality to the length. Generosity and complexity are at its heart with boot polish notes becoming more minerally and the black plums are spiced with cloves.
