The 2006 vintage has been made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot – classic Bordeaux grapes. The blend has produced a wine of fine complexity throughout. The aromas are still youthful minty, pepper, blackberry, plums, cassis with some aniseed liquorice and savoury characters. It is a nicely textured and balanced wine with chewy tannins, pleasing intensity of fruit and structure. The flavours, like the nose, are still youthful blackberry, plum, but with added savoury roast, vanilla, earthiness and toasty oak. Certainly a wine with plenty of character that will also benefit from some cellar dust on the bottle.
