Valentines Day is not just about the Rosés …..

cloverhillthere are plenty of great wines in lighter or deeper hues that can inspire the romantic mood of the occasion.  And now is the time to start searching for that distinctive bottle for your special someone.

Maybe you have a romantic dinner planned and you are after a wine that will happily match the food and the ambiance.  Why not seek out the very food friendly Rymill MC2 2005 to take to dinner, or the richly red Protero  Gumeracha Cabernet Sauvignon 2006.

Girls (or guys!)! if you are after a statement wine to push home the message – why not try a tongue-in-cheek approach with Chalk Hill 2008 Procrastinator? Or Romeo’s, the perfume scented T’Gallant Juliet Pinot Grigio may be just perfect for your very own Juliet?  For those who are seriously hoping to impress, you cannot go passed the Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier of any vintage that you can find.

Of course, bubbles are a traditional gift to commemorate St Valentine.  There is plenty of Australian fizz that will add a sparkle to the day.  Croser 2007 is a zesty choice or the weightier Clover Hill 2004 which will can starter your evening as an aperitif and slink into accompanying your starter. Mmmm! If you have a penchant for French Champagne and want to really push the boat out – Nicholas Feuillatte’s Cuvee Palm d’or 1997 ($250+) may very well suit the occasion.   If you are a dedicated Pink for Val’s day drinker – then Australia’s Chandon have two rosey sparklies to choose from.

Whatever you choose, Happy Valentine’s Day from me!
