The Dowie Doole G&T is a one of those fun Australian takes on a Spanish classic blend. One found in one form or another in the northern Spanish region of Rioja. Grenache (or Garnacha in Spanish) grape vines are no stranger to the McLaren Vale, they have some of the oldest in the world there. On the other hand, Tempranillo is a newer resident in Australian vineyards. However, as a traditional companion to Grenache, it has been used to great effect in the Dowie Doole G&T.
In the glass, there is a waft of fresh raspberry and cherry fruit along with a more earthy cinnamon. The G&T has elegant proportions with a fleshy, silky mouthfeel and succulent tannins. There is plenty going on in this wine. While, it can be savoured with food, it is just as good sitting around the backyard with friends.
