El Coto Rosado

Who makes it?

El Coto Rosado is one of the wines offered by this brand which is part of the Baron de Ley portfolio. The range is ever growing and also includes an organic wine and a semidulce white made from Viura and Chardonnay.

How do they make it?

A rosado such as clearly has food in mind. Not only is it fresh and fruity, but it is textural too. It is a tempranillo dominant blend where this prima donna Spanish red grape leads and garnacha follows. There seems to be some lees contact here as this is a wine with a spicy and silky persona.

What does it taste like?

This is fuller bodied, dry pink that glides smoothly like silk across the palate but finishes with a crisp freshness. Undoubtedly though, it is the texture that captures winelover’s attention. There is not just strawberry, cherry and peach to be found here, but also some delightful spice. It is long and fleshy and more-ish.

What to drink it with?

I would suggest that this rosado will match very well with some chorizon spiced chicken pasta, or a salad niçoise. It goes without saying that Tapas would also be a good accompaniment including a tortilla with ham and cheese adding substance to the potatoes.
