Who makes it?
The Gosset Zero Dosage is made by the oldest of the Champagne houses. In fact, the house has been making fine Champagne since 1584. The Renaud Cointreau family now own this revered House. It surprises me that Gosset is not top of mind for most fizz lovers as it should be. However, those wine lovers around the world who know it, love it for its dedication to quality and freshness. Incidentally, their Champagne's do have remarkably long lives in cellars around the world.
How do they make it?
Gosset’s winemaking team use extended lees contact throughout the wine making process. This starts with keeping the wine in contact with the lees with regular stirring for around a year or more before the wine starts the second ferment. Then the wine is put into bottle to start the second ferment and rests then up to 10 years.

The blend is Chardonnay dominant (just over 60%) with the rest being Pinot Noir. The grapes are from around Champagne. Particularly from around Epernay including the sub regions of Montagne de Reims, and the eastern reaches of Vallee de la Marne. Some fruit from Cotes des Blancs is also included.

What does it taste like?
Gosset Zero Dosage is crystalline in its detail in its aromas and to some degree, texturally too. The aromas of lemon, mineral, and apple open up in the mouth with some nutty spice. It is medium bodied and crisp. The fruit joins a hint of beady spice and creaminess in the mouth. The finish is of apple, lemon and almond.
This is a wine that is unadorned, is very elegant and still gives generously. It is a reminder that zero dosage wines are very carefully made. These wines have nothing to hide and shows you where it is from. It doesn’t hide its thoughts at all.
What to drink it with?
I suggest that this Champagne will be a great match with seafood, chicken or vegetarian dishes. A fish and seafood pie would be great. So, too, would be a simple chicken salad.
Cheese
Drink Gosset Zero Dosage Champagne with chevre or bloomy cheeses. Certainly with Brie and Camembert but also with Saint Nectaire and I think even an orange rind cheese will work. Also with a semi-hard cheese such as a Pecorino or a herb flavoured cheese.
Quickie review « The lack of dosage here really makes the impeccable detail in this wine shine through. »
