Grey Sands 2008 Pinot Gris – February Wine of the Month

greysands

This small family run Tasmanian winery has to be one of the finds of the year!  And this très élégant Pinot Gris is delightfully true to varietal. It has plenty of balance and spicy concentration with plenty of white peach on the nose. There is ripe and creamy pear and peaches that burst to life in your mouth.  It has a satisfying and lingering fruit weight and refreshing acid which provides support for its linear backbone. Buy at least 3 and drink them over the next 5 years to fully appreciate the honeyed changes that will come with age to this graceful wine.
