La Sirene de Giscours Margaux 2014

La Sirene is a lush blend of Bordeaux left bank classics Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot from the younger vines grown on the Chateau Giscours estate in Margaux. The older vines are destined for the Chateau Giscours’ Grand Cru blend but La Sirene is undeniably Bordeaux and undeniably good drinking.

The ripe blackcurrant and berry fruit, cedar and dried herbs is suffused with earthiness and truffles.  It is elegantly styled, with fresh acid and plush tannins filling out the mouth. The flavours continue to unfurl and last a long moment on the finish. This is a wine that is an easy cellar candidate as it will continue to age with grace. If you can’t wait that long, drink it now after giving it some time to breathe and enjoy it with a roast dinner with all the trimmings and take it with you to sit by the fire to continue the conversation.
