Langmeil Three Gardens Grenache Shiraz Mataro

Who makes it?

Langmeil Three Gardens is a red blend from the Lindner family winery. The family is very passionate about wine and preserving the Barossa’s history. They have the historic Freedom vineyard with Shiraz vines dating back to 1843. Although, it is not just Australia’s Barossa Valley vines that they are custodians of. They also have a historic vineyard in the Eden Valley with some Shiraz vines that are more than 120 years old.

How do they make it?

This Three Gardens is their red blend made from Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro (also known as Mourvedre). Winelovers will know this blend as a classic Rhone red blend. There is a smidge of other grapes included too such as Carignan and Cinsault.  These grapes come from different subregions around the Barossa Valley. Some of the vines are over 90 years old. The wine spends 12 months in old oak to flesh out and settle in.

What does it taste like?

The Three Gardens red is a fuller body, fleshy fruity wine. The raspberry, cherry fruit has a spicy nutmeg accent. It is quite rich as you might expect, with concentred fruit to balance it out. The whole package is of lush fruitiness.

What to drink it with?

Drink this red with a burger (don’t forget the beetroot & bacon), bangers or a ragu pasta. Roast lamb and beef would also be good.

Cheese

An easy choice for this wine is semi hard and hard matured cheeses. Manchego, Comte and Cheddar.
