Although Lidl Wine Tours have perhaps now got less destinations as then they did previously, they are still the source of some very interesting wines. In other words, there might be less wines offered each promotional period, but there is still plenty to celebrate. One aspect of the current 'wine tours' is also that you will often find a previously offered wine in the offering. So here are some that you can look out for and when you see them buy more than one if you can so that you have some for in-between the tours.
Why buy from Lidl?
Because in the UK, they will often have some unusual wines that you might not see in other supermarkets. Wines such as an oaked Furmint from Tokaji. Or Sparkling Grillo from Sicily. Or a Muscat from Pantellaria. That is the advantage of course of buying in specialist allocations.

Here are a half dozen suggestions:
Duca di Sesseta Pecorino Terre Abruzzesi (IGT) Biologico
Lime zest and herbs with a hint of floral perfume. Even in the aromas, you can find a savoury minerality and some nuttiness. The wine is fuller in body with a salty, slightly oily texture. It is fresh and refreshing yet it is also an intriguingly textural wine. It has just enough acid to keep it soft and fruity. The finish is of pear, stonefruit and still retains that light floral hints along with that mineral savouriness.
This is an organic wine.
Duca di Castelmonte Sicilian Zibbibo
A dry finishing white with a heady, spicy perfume with mouth filling generosity. It is hard to resist this one. Aromas of floral, ginger, citrus and peach carry through to the palate, with that stony mineral adding dimension to the palate. So often relegated to producing sweeter wines, it is interesting to see this Muscat as a dry style white wine. This is a regularly appearing wine in the Lidl Wine Tours.
Chateau Dereszla Furmint Oak Selection Tokaji
This is one of Lidl's offerings from well respected wine brands. Chateau Dereszla is an excellent producer of wines from the Tokaji region. You will find other wines from this producers in Lidl from time to time as well, including a sparkling wine. When I purchased this wine it was £7.99 which was very good value. It was lightly spicy, citrus, pear and it had a herbal lift as well. It had lush creamy softness that made the wine rather irresistible.
If you don't see this particular wine in Lidl, but you do see others from this producer, I would definitely give them a try!
Podere Macinatico Vernaccia di San Gimignano
A crisp Italian white that tastes like summer in a glass. Vernaccia is a native grape to the Tuscan beauty spot of San Gimignano. It is citrusy with some herbs to make it very summery. The producer has some of their range certified organic. This wine may be too. Crisp and refreshing. Keep an eye out when this wine comes back on tour.
Muller Loss & Schotter Rose (Niederösterreich)
This is an interesting rose from Austria. It has a deeper pink hue and is refreshing and drier in style. Strawberries, cherries and floral notes. A good wine to enjoy with food and a good drink for the price.

Alte Vogtei Zu Ravensburg Pinot Noir (Organic)
A Spatburgunder from the Baden region. This is a tasty German Pinot Noir that has plenty of fruit amply supported by some spicy oak. It is a good drink by itself or with food. Cherries, red currants and cinnamon. You will find this one is a regular in the Wine Tours. And it is another of the organic wines on offer.
