Mount Edward is a rather eclectic South Island, New Zealand wine estate that is just as passionately owned as it is passionately run. Their focus is to produce organic wines that excite the mind just as much as the palate. And they don’t mind a good pinot either from what I have tasted! While they intended to focus on pinot and riesling, more than a decade on, their offering has extended to Pinot gris, Pinot blanc and even Gruner veltliner.
The Mount Edward TED range is a blend of Pinot Noir grapes from across Central Otago, a region with an abundance of sunshine to ripen this notoriously difficult grape variety. It is a region that has captured the world’s Pinot lover’s attentions.
This is soft, and velvet and as elegant as the label is eye catching. Ripe cherry and plum fruit, fresh and juicy, jostles with gentle oak and all this is brought together with a pinch of thyme. It is a bright and vivacious wine that needs no additional accompaniment to make it shine.
Quickie review «If you are looking for a bright and elegant pinot, TED is a fine choice. It certainly has personality plus. »
