Paracombe 2005 ‘The Reuben’

labelThis is a wine that brings to mind Roast Beef & Yorkshire Puds.  Being a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (14%), Cabernet Franc (12%), Malbec (5%) & Shiraz (5%) nothing about this wine is straight forward except that it is rather tasty and that immediately you taste it you think of food.  Even the Cabernet is not just from a single clone, but from six!

The nose is fragrant plums, spicy mulberry with just a hint of sweet vanilla with some additional nuttiness coming through on the palate. The fruit is intense, sweet and fragrant and is deliciously backed up by enough savouriness to keep you interested to go that extra glass.

Note:  2005 may be scarce but keep an eye out for the 2006.
