Paracombe Wines ‘Gruner V5’ 2017

On the cool edges of the Adelaide Hills is the small town of Paracombe. And a winery that shares the same name. One that is owned by a very passionate family.

It goes without saying then, that the Drogemuller family has embraced this grape and released their vision for the Gruner Veltliner grape. This time as part of a blend. In this aromatically harmonious union, Gruner Veltliner makes up 57% of the blend. It is joined by the companionable grapes: Riesling (26%), Pinot Gris (9%), Pinot Blanc (5%) and Gewurztraminer (3%).

The V5 is a delightful mix of floral spice, lemon and ripe tropical notes. There is fun to be had here. It starts lightly on the palate before finishing fleshy and long with plenty more floral spice. Made for hedonistic enjoyment and will be a great companion for Asian spices or Sunday fish and chips on the beach. Gruner V has a very bright future in its adopted country.

Quickie review «A delightfully perfumed white blend bringing Gruner V to the fore. Not just a fun wine, but quite irresistible when paired with even a glimmer of sunshine.»
