Queen Cote de Provence Rosé

Who makes it?

Queen Cote de Provence Rosé is another celebrity collaboration. At the moment, it is just this rosé wine. The collaborator on the Queen side is Roger Taylor along with several wine partners. This also includes Caves du Commandeur in Var. The producer is a cooperative producer of specialty wines that are from the AOP Cotes de Provence, AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence and IGP Var appellations. Caves du Commandeur can be found in Montfort-sur-Argens, about halfway between Aix-en-Provence and Cannes.

How do they make it?

A typical blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Cinsault – both are Provence classic varieties for rosé. The Queen Cotes de Provence rosé spends its time only in stainless steel. It has plenty of concentrated intensity thanks to a selection of older vineyards. Therefore, the fruit does not require any further adornment of oak.

What does it taste like?

This wine is a pale salmon colour. It has ripeness in the melon, peach and strawberry fruit with a definite spicy lilt. There is some firmness there to shape the mouth. It is a fuller bodied wine that is good drinking. Not surprisingly, it is also a dry pink wine with a residual sugar level of just over 1 gram per litre. That body comes from high quality fruit.

It is a fruity fresh pink that works very well with or without food.

What to drink it with?

Enjoy this with salads, chicken, pink fish and appetisers.

Cheese

Goat’s cheeses are good with this wine, particularly a goat’s cheese rolled in chilli and herbs.
