Who makes it?

Tesco Finest Vinas del Rey Albarino. This is a Tesco Finest wine and it is a ripe and lush Albarino. The grapes for this wine grow in Rais Baixas in Galicia close to Spain’s Atlantic coast. Albarino is that region’s speciality and the region does it very well.

What does it taste like?

Tesco Finest Vinas del Rey Albarino is a ripely rounded dry white wine. It is a medium lemon in colour. The richly creamy perfume is an indication that after fermentation, this wine rests on lees to impart that creamy spice. 

The fragrance is floral with peach, citrus and that cream. There is a salty mineral character on the nose as well when it is freshly opened. It is a medium body white yet it is intensely fruity. There is no escaping that fruitfulness. The wine is generous and concentrated. 

You do get good value for money with this wine.

What to drink it with?

I suggest a creamy seafood dish. With that saline character, it is a good match for white fish and chicken. However, don’t stop there. It will, of course, match very well with vegetarian dishes including Morrocan flavoured hummus.
