Waitrose ‘Loved and Found’ Frappato

Waitrose Frappato

Who makes it?

Waitrose ‘Loved and Found’ Frappato is a Waitrose own label wine. Frappato is one of Sicily’s native red wine grapes. It is known for maker lighter bodied red wines. Of course, lovers of Cerasuolo di Vittoria may know it as a component of that wine when it is blended with Nero d’Avola.

What does it taste like?

This is a bright cherry coloured wine that is loaded with berry fruit. A wine redolent with strawberry and raspberry and a floral lift. It is light bodied dry red wine that is low in tannins. This Frappato has a flush of acid that is refreshing and the flavours last a long while on the finish.

Furthermore, this is a wine that you can drink chilled for summer or at cool room temperature. It is a little ‘gem’ of a summer red.

Hint: This wine can be served around 12- 14 oC, to keep it chilled use an ice bucket and let the wine warm for just a few minutes in your glass on a very hot day. Otherwise, move it in and out of the bucket as needed.

What to drink it with?

Waitrose ‘Loved and Found’ Frappato goes well with prosciutto, smoked salmon and other light dishes. It has the intensity though to also go with a some brie or Manchego.
