Who makes it?
Coriole Nero d’Avola is just part of the Italian varietal offering from the Lloyd family. Sure you should expect McLaren Vale Shiraz and Cabernet in their red range. However, you will also find Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Negroamaro. And this Nero d’Avola.
Incidentally, Coriole has the oldest Sangiovese vines in Australia. Those vines are over 40 years old now.
How do they make it?
The grapes are 100% McLaren Vale fruit. This Nero has a portion of the batch that undergoes whole bunch fermentation. The wine is matured in old oak for around 5 months.
What does it taste like?
In the glass this wine leaps with purple highlights. And it is fragrant with cherry and plum fruit with lashings of spicy cinnamon and nutmeg. Some fennel lifts the aromas. It is fuller in body, juicy fruited. Plus it has some succulent tannins that extend the length. It is a fruity, spicy mouthful.
What to drink it with?
Drink the Coriole Nero d’Avola with bangers and mash with rich onion gravy, a burger or even a lasagne.
Cheese
Try this Nero d’Avola with a matured hard cheese, such as Manchego, Gruyere & cheddar.
