Arras Brut Elite Cuvee 401

Another beauty from the House of Arras, a Tasmania brand, that is really setting the standard for Australian Sparkling wine with their depth & complexity.  This wine recently won Gold at the Royal Sydney show, then taking out the trophy for best sparkling.  A blend of Pinot Noir & Chardonnay grown in cool climate of Tasmania.  It is priced around a discounted entry Champagne price & I feel that it offers just a little more than the usual Champagne suspects who are selling around this price…. And this from a fizz lover who does enjoy those discounted Champagne when I can.

The smoky biscuity apple, nougat nose becomes more ripe & spiced on the palate.  After 5 years on lees, it is elegantly shaped in the mouth with a lush mousse, soft roundness while staying medium bodied and a long long creamy finish. It is fresh & quite irresistible drinking. The obvious question is, who will you share it with?

Date: February 2012   Price: $55  Value: $$   Drink: Now – 5 yrs
